Frequently asked questions
I didn't get my sign-in code
Codes expire after 10 minutes. Check your spam or promotions folder, make sure the email address is spelled correctly, then request a new code.
Why do I have to verify my identity?
Verification keeps Hale real and adults-only — everyone you meet has done it too. You take a selfie copying a pose and photograph your government ID. Images are deleted within 30 days of the decision; we keep your date of birth and verification result. If you're rejected because a photo was unclear or your ID expired, you can try again.
How do video calls and credit work?
Calls cost $0.45 per minute, paid by the caller; receiving calls is free. You buy credit in the app through Google Play. Credit also pays for conversation openers (3¢ per 50 new conversations) and translation (1¢ per message). Credit has no cash value and is lost if you delete your account.
Can I get a refund?
Purchases are processed by Google Play, so refund requests go through Google Play's refund process. If a call was ended because the other member broke the rules, email us — our safety team may refund the affected credit.
How does translation work?
Tap Translate on a message from a match. Only messages you choose to translate are sent to Microsoft Azure AI Translator.
How do I block or report someone?
Use the Report or Block option on the member's profile or in your chat with them. Trained safety staff review every report. If you can't find the option, email us with the member's name and what happened.
I think my account was suspended or banned by mistake
Email us with the subject "Appeal" from your sign-in address. We'll review the decision and reply.
How do I delete my account?
In the app: You → Delete account. Without the app, follow the account deletion steps.

Child safety standards
Hale is published by Datant LLC and is strictly for adults aged 18 and over. We have zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE), including child sexual abuse material (CSAM), grooming, sextortion, and any content that sexualizes minors.
- Age assurance: every member confirms they are 18+ at sign-up and must verify their age with a government ID and live selfie before using Discover. Accounts found to belong to anyone under 18 are banned.
- Prevention and detection: new photos are automatically checked for sexual content, messages are checked by AI, and video calls are monitored by AI with human review of every flag.
- In-app reporting: members can report any profile, message or call in the app. Reports involving minors are prioritized.
- Enforcement: content involving CSAE is removed and the responsible accounts are permanently banned, with measures to prevent them rejoining.
- Reporting to authorities: we report apparent CSAM to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and cooperate with law enforcement, in line with applicable laws.
- Contact: our designated child safety contact can be reached at [email protected]. You can also report directly to NCMEC's CyberTipline.
